Laika Productions is an independent film, television and music production company based in Athens, Greece.

Laika Productions founded in 2018 by director-producer Marina Danezi and producer Tasos Koronakis. The company has a strong focus on documentaries and short and feature fiction films that explore human rights and social issues. With a commitment to independent, socially conscious storytelling, Laika Productions has established itself as a dynamic force in the Greek filmmaking landscape.

TV

Its productions for television include the emblematic TV series of documentaries “The Haunts: Stories of Vulgar Civilisation”, which completed 6 seasons of episodes. The documentary series, “Kleinon Asty – Urban stories”, is now being rebroadcast by the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) is in its 4th season. The 2nd season of the series “2004 Seconds”, produced by Laika Productions, was shown by Cosmote TV.

MUSIC

As part of its music-related activities, Laika Productions has successfully staged concerts for domestic and international bands, festivals and cultural events for more than 15 years on Athens’ entertainment scene and is indelibly linked to the Gagarin 205 live music venue.

marina Danezi

Director / Producer

Marina Danezi was born in 1982 in Athens. She studied Mathematics at the University of Athens and theatre at the “Delos” school of Dimitra Hatoupis. She worked as an actor in theatre and cinema.

In 2008 she turned to directing with her first short documentary “The Time Pirate” receiving an Honorable Mention at the Digi 2008 awards of the Short Film Festival of Drama, followed in 2009 by “Faka”, her second short documentary. Then, she makes her first feature length documentary, “The Scavengers’ Union”, which received an honorary distinction at the 5th Documentary Festival of Chalkida (the film was nominated in the category “Documentary of the Year” by the Film Academy). The documentary “Sam Roma” (2014) is her second feature documentary.

In 2016 she completed the direction of the documentary “PAOK 90 years: nostalgia for the future” by Nikos Triantafyllidis, which was awarded the first prize by the Panhellenic Film Critics Association at the Thessaloniki Film Festival.

In recent years she has been involved in film and television production. In 2014, she undertook the production of the documentary series “The Haunts – Stories of Vulgar Civilisation”, which began to be broadcast by NERIT and then by ERT, while she has directed most of the episodes of the series. In cinema, she was the producer of the film “The Sentimentalists” by director Nikos Triantafyllidis (which has already participated in prestigious festivals abroad, having won many awards) and the award-winning documentary “PAOK 90 years: nostalgia for the future”. Along with directing and producing, Marina Danezi has been the artistic director for many years, while today she is responsible for the public relations of the Gagarin 205 Live Music Space, which hosts important personalities of the foreign and domestic music scene. At the same time, through Laika Productions, she also produces her own music with bands from Greece and abroad.

Tasos Koronakis

Producer / Production Director

Tasos Koronakis was born in September 1975 and grew up in Athens and Piraeus.
He started his studies at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Patras but eventually became more interested in public affairs and politics.

In the context of his political career, he was a member of the Syriza political secretariat for almost 10 years, responsible for social movements and organizational affairs, communications officer and coordinator of a series of election campaigns. He served for a few months as Secretary of the Central Committee of Syriza, resigned in July 2015 and left the party. After that, he took an active role in the Social Economy in the field of development, communication, marketing and advertising. He also has extensive experience in the production of large-scale events, conferences, cultural events, exhibitions, concerts and festivals.

For the last 6 years he has been working as a production manager at Laika Productions having completed more than 70 episodes of documentaries in the series “The Haunts” (The Stekia) and “Kleinon Asty – Urban Stories” which were broadcasted on state television (ERT). He has also taken part in dozens of the company’s projects as a production manager.
Finally, he has served as production manager on 3 short films, one of which he co-produced, and on 2 documentaries, one short and one feature film in the post-production phase, and was executive producer on a short documentary.
He feels that this is the best job of his life.
